DC posted up a first look at Brandon Routh as Ray Palmer in the Atom (technically A.T.O.M. in the show) costume from upcoming episodes of Arrow.  Honestly, I wasn't sure how this would look on the screen, but they really have made it work!  I really like how all the characters have looked in the Arrow/Flash universe so far, but this might be the best one yet.

I wasn't a huge fan of Brandon Routh in Superman Returns, but so far he's been great as Ray Palmer in Arrow.   He has a little more personality than he ever did in the comics.  It seems like whenever DC wanted to give personality to Ray Palmer, they made him crazy.  But this version is much more nuanced, and he's been a great addition to the Arrow cast this year.

The A.T.O.M.  suit is definitely a nice update of the comic costume.  Actually, it sort of reminds me of the quick glimpses we've seen of the Ant-Man costume from the upcoming Marvel movie, which is definitely an odd coincidence.  A few people said that it reminds them of the Iron Man costume, but I don't see that at all.  Actually the more I think about it, the more I am reminded of X-O Manowar, but it's mostly because of the open face plate.

Here's the full costume below:

Now that we have Flash, Atom, and Firestorm, which DC character would you like to see show up next in the Arrowverse?  Vibe seems very likely, since Cisco Ramon is one of Flash's supporting cast.  I keep hoping for Nightwing because they dropped a few Bludhaven references in earlier episodes...though with the upcoming Teen Titans show on TNT, I think that is very unlikely to happen.  I'm also hoping we get Hal Jordan in some capacity.  I need me some Hard Traveling Heroes!

Post Script: After I posted this story in the queue, I saw that Grant Gustin (The Flash himself) had posted this picture of both the A.T.O.M. costume and the Flash costume in S.T.A.R. Labs.  I assume this is teasing that we'll finally get to see Flash and Atom together at some point in this season.  Throw in Arrow and Firestorm, and we can have a little bit of a Justice League going here...
